The tapestry was officially launched onto an unsuspecting public by Air Marshal Sir Dusty Miller at St Johns Church on

1 April 2018 with over 100 people attending the event.

On the 15 June 2018 Ray and Sheila Bunnage from the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) displayed the RAFA Gloucestershire RAF 100 Commemorative Tapestry to year 6 of Longlevens Junior School as a culmination of their World War 11 studies. The display included a PowerPoint presentation providing information about the ten tapestry panels, history of the RAF in Gloucestershire and the Gloster Aircraft Company.

The tapestry display and presentation were well received by the children who demonstrated a high level of knowledge and enthusiasm.

Following the presentation all classes, a total of 600 children were given an opportunity to view the tapestries and gain knowledge of the RAF and aircraft manufacturing in Gloucestershire.

RAF 100 Events in Gloucester 8 July 2018

Excellent turn out of Veterans for the parade with the Lydney ATC band leading the way and keeping the beat. The hot weather resulted in a reduced number attending but those who did should be proud of their splendid turnout.

The RAF 100 "token" was received by the branch at the Area Conference on the 25th March and moved on to the RAFA Dursley and South Gloucestershire branch at the Portivo Lounge on 30th March.

Arrival at Cheltenham RAFA Club

The RAFA Gloucestershire RAF 100 Commemorative Tapestry was displayed for the first time at the RAFA Area Conference. The Area President, Air Commodore Andrew Neal was most impressed and presented Ray with an Area Presidents Certificate and badge.

Ray's comment. When you set out on a project like creating a tapestry of the history of the RAF in Gloucestershire you never know if its going to be a success or just one big failure, after all no one has been foolish enough to try to produce a tapestry based on aviation on this scale before. A remarkable dedicated team for whom failure was not an option ensured the project was a huge success as evident from the award of the Area Presidents certificate which I accepted on behalf of all those involved.
